How to Play the Game "Among Us" with Friends, Offline and Online
The simulation game made by InnerSloth named Among Us is suddenly being played by a lot of users. Thanks to some gamers on Youtube, Reddit forums, social media, and some other channels, the popularity of the game released in 2018 has skyrocketed, especially in the midst of a pandemic and its availability on smartphones that can be downloaded for free. Besides being able to be played online with other users, this game can actually be played with your friends offline (Local Area Network / LAN) or without an internet connection.
However, all players, including you, must be on the same hotspot or WiFi network. So, how do you play this game together with your relatives? Come on, see the following method!
Play locally via a WiFi network
To play via LAN, open the game Among Us and immediately select the "Local" menu in the main screen. Then, enter your name in the top column and click the "Create Game" button. After that, the player will be moved into a kind of waiting room. Here, the room creator (host) can click the "Customize" icon to beautify the character with favorite colors, hats, pets, maps, and various in-game rules. For your friends who want to enter the room that you have created, they can simply enter the Among Us game, select the "Local" menu, and click on the room listed in the "Available Games" column. It should be noted, make sure you and your relatives again use the same hotspot / WiFi network. If not, then your friend cannot find the room that was created earlier.
Play with friends via internet
If you and your friends can't get together on one WiFi network, maybe because of a ban during a pandemic, don't worry. Because, Among Us can also be played remotely, aka online with your relatives.
The method is quite easy, first of all, open Among Us and click the "Online" menu. Then, choose the server you want, it can be Asia, North America, or Europe. It's good to play on Asian servers. The reason is, the further away the server is from where we live, the internet connection is likely to be interrupted / slower as well. After selecting the server, click the "Create Game" button. In the next screen, select one of the three available maps, including the number of importers, chat settings, and the number of players. Then, click the "Confirm" button. Just like offline, you will then be transferred to the waiting room view. Here, make sure the room has the room mode "Private" instead of "Public". You can see the illustration of the "Private" room in the following picture.
Then, share the six unique characters listed under the "Code" text with your relatives. The code line is at the bottom of the screen right below the "Start" button, as shown in the picture above.
For your relatives who want to participate, they just need to open Among Us, click the "Online" menu, and click enter the code in the form of six characters previously shared in the "Private" column. Finally, click the arrow icon to the right of the code field. If successful, your relatives will then be transferred to the waiting room that you have created. It should be noted, make sure the server that your relative chooses is the same as the room server that has been created. Otherwise, your friend won't be able to find the room, even if the code is correct.
